Documents like an Aadhaar card, passport, utility bills, or birth certificate are generally accepted.
After submitting the form, applicants will receive a reference number that allows them to monitor the progress of their application. Typically, a Booth Level Officer (BLO) is designated to verify the information provided by the applicant. The BLO may visit the applicant’s home to validate the authenticity of the documents and confirm the applicant’s identity. Once verification is successfully completed, the applicant’s name is added to the electoral roll, and the Voter ID card is printed and mailed to the applicant’s address.
For those who prefer not to use the online process, offline applications are also available. Applicants can go to the nearest Electoral Registration Office or designated centers during voter registration events. They must complete Form 6 and submit it along with photocopies of the necessary documents. These centers typically offer assistance to help individuals fill out the form accurately. The verification process remains unchanged, and the Voter ID will be sent by post following successful verification.
In addition to initial registrations, the Election Commission offers services for correcting existing Voter ID information, changing constituencies due to relocation, and updating photographs. These services can be accessed using Form 8 for corrections and Form 6A or 7, depending on the type of change required.
