Additionally, certain documents are necessary for the online application process.
Once the required documents are collected, the applicant can complete the online application form available on the portal. Information such as the name, date of birth, parents’ names, address, and date of marriage must be entered with precision. The details of the witnesses must also be included. After the form is submitted, an appointment date will be generated for document verification and, if necessary, a physical appearance at the registrar’s office.
On the scheduled day, the couple must go to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) office or Marriage Registrar’s Office, bringing original documents and witnesses. In contrast, the Special Marriage Act requires a 30-day notice period following the application, during which any objections may be raised. After the marriage is confirmed and all requirements are met, the Marriage Certificate is issued and can be downloaded online from the same portal, or it can be collected in person from the registrar’s office.
